Phillipsburg is a statutory village in Montgomery County, Ohio, governed under state law (ORC) as a small incorporated municipality with a population of 498 residents at the most recent (2020) census. Platted in 1836, the village was named for Philip Studybaker, one of its founding town company members. The local post office—originally “Centre” in 1848—was later renamed “Phillipsburg” in 1903. Phillipsburg was officially incorporated as a village in 1899.
